Their listing is a complete lie.
Wholly irresponsible, it is most worrisome that they didn't
verify anything they claimed.
Do they think their customers won't check?
An artificially high selling price results when people lie.
It doesn't take Captain Obvious to figure out what would happen
if they were truthful.
Universally, these jerks are surprised, defiant, and angry that victims get upset;
it's "no big deal" and their prey is the problem, not them.
Sellers often overweigh their silver knowing more silver is more money.
Though less than 0.1% use certified scales,
even the cheapest scales are deadly accurate so this deliberate, malicious lie is easily busted.
A fair compensation is to replace the missing silver
or refund the difference.
I calculate a refund based on the price per unit I
paid including shipping, tax, commission fees, and purchase price.
In other words, I'm cutting these skanks some slack they don't deserve
since the "missing silver" value (based on spot, not the price I paid)
sometimes exceeds the price!
Sellers without first-grade math skills get confused, but others can compare the partial refund
to the shipping costs. If shipping costs more than the partial refund then stop. Think. Actually think,
like, with your brain. We can both walk away amicably by accepting this fair offer.
Again, basic math here.
Though it was less money than they hoped, it's more than they'd have after
paying for shipping both ways. Further, how many hours will they
waste for emails, unpacking, relisting, resending, and answering questions
when it could be solved with a mouse click in seconds?
Which is where we're at now.
Worse, almost all sellers relist the item EXACTLY
the same after all this! Ethics is not in their vocabulary.
Too dumb to learn or hell-bent on thievery, they'll
find someone even dumber and more ignorant than themselves
so their lie will be truth eventually.
Problem solved, except they are still alive and breathing.
As a matter of principle, some sellers avoid partial refunds.
However, this is not a case of finagling a lower price based on nothing.
They haven't handled the situation
honorably; they should keep quiet because "their" way started it all!
Shipping companies relish destroying packages. Luckily, I pack well in anticipation of such treatment.
Can't be too careful. When returning an item, if all I have is an oversized box then so be it.
Too bad if return shipping costs reflect this. Boo hoo hoo. Get some integrity and own up to it.
Long ago in this whole fiasco they could have acted wisely
and saved money by accepting a generous, no-brainer offer and avoided the alternative.
Instead they chose to be reported to the FBI for internet fraud, the USPS for postal
fraud, and get bad feedback.
Egos aside, what would explain such an asinine ending?
Time and time again, their stupidity astounds me.
