I'd rather screw it up in silver - not as much time is lost and it's less painful to melt it down and start over. But not just making it, making it well. This isn't novelty junk or a lame accessory with butted rings. It is the real deal with welded and soldered rings like jewelry should be! It takes considerably more time and skill. Gold deserves no less. What's the point otherwise? Are you going to preface each showing of your, ahem, "masterpiece" with "I use the most expensive metal to make the ugliest, lowest quality chain because I don't have the talent to weld or solder it. I can't even handmake it, relying on premade components instead. I'm just a glorified assembler, not a skilled artisan." That must be comforting to your potential customers, just what they want to hear. NOT! Enough of the reality check, trying to assess a chain's tactile component through photos is like imagining how it would feel to rip down the side of a mountain on a bicycle if all you've ever done is ride a stationary bike. The exquisite nature of fine chains is something that must be experienced in person. I make exceptional precious metal chain link jewelry so you'll find plenty of enjoyment here.
