The starting ingot
Ugly but solid

I selected JPL5 (Jens Pind Linkage 5), the ultimate expression of chainmail and one of the most exquisite weaves, to render in 18k green-yellow gold. The completed item can be found here. It is handmade from the molecular level using eco-friendly, conflict-free, socially responsible, reclaimed precious metals and is certainly one of the nicest and most exquisite JPL5s ever made.

This is breathtaking solid gold jewelry with welded links. Compared to a soldered chain, it is stronger, more durable, and uniformly colored without copper, cadmium, zinc, nickel, or other harsh, irritating, or poisonous metals. Hypo-allergenic, silver gives it anti-microbial properties as well. It meets the legal definition of corrosion-resistant.

Flame-fusing this alloy is more demanding than pure silver but it comes out consistently better if the closures are perfect. (It has become standard practice to do final adjustments under a magnifier to ensure the best closures before welding. Thank this bracelet for that distinction.)

Weave difficulty can be determined many ways but how many scrapped rings (which, added up, equal scrapped chain) is an iron-clad measurement. Luckily, an inch or so is all it took to get otherworldly welds. The biggest problem began a long time ago in a galaxy far....

Gremlins. Long before welding comes manufacturing. I cut most of the coil without incident before the first blade broke. From a freshly opened pack, the next three blades ruined several rings each with another few excised to purge the drunken cut line. For real, on gold of all times? It got about 10% of the coil.

This gold thing could be addictive.

The finished length is ample for any behemoth wrist whether Joe Forearms or Lucy Wrankles. It equally suits both sexes but I'm guessing the ladies will covet it most. A necklace, however, would be unstoppable. Which I could make, custom is no problem.

Perhaps this inaugurates my first themed series, the IYHTAITE Collection (If You Have To Ask It's Too Expensive). This gold thing could be addictive. Expect to see more from the IYHTAITE collection.

While I didn't expect to "ever" sell it - didn't really make it for that reason - a few days later it had a new owner. IYHTAITE, and she didn't. That gives me the chance to make another one. There's always room for improvement and if you're not moving forward then you're becoming stagnant, going backwards, or resting on your laurels. None of those are acceptable.
