"I'll take a quarter of Pineapple Passionberry, a half of Hoar Frost Kush, two grams of shatter, and
a dozen Citrus Plush Couchlock gummies, please!"
Wouldn't it be an interesting career to name marijuana strains? That's not what this blog is about.
This is about getting high quality.
Properly closed saw-cut rings are the only thing that makes quality chains.
There are "professionals" making $20,000 22k gold and sterling necklaces
and $9,000 solid 14k gold bracelets with unsoldered rings, gaps, and more.
A public shaming won't help since the impetus to make quality products comes
from within.
Besides, there is little pressure from the public and NONE from peers to make better goods in a
luxury industry that is over-run with low-quality junk and unsavory characters.
I do everything to avoid saying "chainmail" when talking about chains because it is a curse.
A friend said that chainmaille is to jewelry like cowpies are to chocolate mousse.
Sometimes cowpies have psychedelic mushrooms, and this blog is about getting high, so this would be
the only exception.
Precious metals do not make quality things unless their construction has NO compromises.
To be taken seriously means making exceptional chains whose rings can
be soldered or welded closed like all jewelry should be...and then are! Otherwise it's
merely an over-priced ensemble of rings. Very over-priced. Sellers
think it automatically increases the value but it's an exorbitant price for weak,
poorly made, junk.
Everyone makes a substandard product now and again BUT it doesn't mean they have
to send it into the world. Use it to show
prospective clients what to avoid and then show them your good stuff.
One professional mailler blogged about a lady who could purchase a less expensive
chainmaille shirt elsewhere. He said he would make one just as bad for the same price and to come
back the following week. As he was explaining
how much he valued quality and would never sell or make such a thing - showing his "bad" and
"good" shirts - rings were falling out of his "bad" one.
She bought the bad one anyway. He seemed very proud, like he proved a point.
So much for never making one and never selling one, I guess.
He also insists his special pinch-cut rings are superior to saw-cut ones
because (his rings are cut so poorly) they don't have to be closed properly (to get a good closure).
People will believe what they want about their products, services, and goods.
Once they overcome the angst of lying to themselves it becomes second nature to do it to others.
Science and math paint an accurate picture: Gaps
and misalignments can be measured and pinch-cut rings are total junk.
I have more respect for someone who thinks the earth is flat
because at least they have "facts" to back their argument.
Maybe some drugs wouldn't be such a bad thing after all.
