"Yep, that's definitely a place for a squash fold if I've ever seen one!"
Whether that statement was said during the numerous
space missions that used origami to help a chute deploy or
solve another problem remains to be seen.
However, it was used to install anti-weed fabric
around my fire pit before snow.
The fabric was laid out as one uncut piece in a 10ft octagon around
the round-ish (23 brick circumference) pit.
Compared to other methods, it was the least hassle.
Decent maneuverability and flexibility got the nooks and crannies covered.
Any weeds that find an opening will get scorched, literally. The fabric may
experience heat-related issues as well...ahem.
The folds were 3ft long overall and quite imperfect.
If they compromised the fabric the overlap would ensure any questionable areas
had double secret protection.
As long as everything stayed put then I wasn't going to nitpick, no sir.
Besides, this wasn't a precise installation...git 'r done.
Waiting until spring to finalize the layout and accoutrements
will let the fabric defoliate underneath.
It should survive one winter and a reshuffling in the spring
without losing a beat.
Mulch, stone, or other coverings will come once everything is smoothed
and positioned.
Or so's the plan.
It takes a few years to establish a garden, routine, and landscaping if you
haven't done it to such a scale before.
At least I won't be pissin' away fossil fuels and time mowing those areas, again, no sir.
I can deal with weeding, or not, but ixnay on the owingmay, monsieur.
